Swatzel is CEO of Capt. Dick’s Marina and is a former two-term Georgetown County Councilman, the first Republican elected to the position since Reconstruction. He is chairman of South Carolinians for Responsible Government, a board member of the Coalition Against Unlimited Spending, and has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez as a South Carolina representative to the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council. He lives in Murrells Inlet with wife Susie and daughter Hayley.
